Cookie Policy

Last updated: 13 October 2026

No advertising tags run on JobsAbroad Uganda, and our own code never sets a cookie. Any cookie you pick up here comes from one of two analytics tools. The sections below list every item that can end up in your browser during a visit.

1. What "cookies" covers on this page

For convenience we use "cookies" for every method a site has of saving data in your browser:

  • Cookie: a little text file that a site saves and receives back on your next visit.
  • sessionStorage: tied to one tab, and emptied by closing it.
  • localStorage and IndexedDB: kept until you or someone else deletes them.

2. The only item our own code saves

A single item is saved in a visitor's browser by our own code, and it is not a cookie.

Called chunk_reload_at, it lives in sessionStorage and holds a timestamp. Its job is narrow: if we release an update while one of our pages is open, that page reloads once and carries on rather than breaking. It tells us nothing about you and goes away with the tab. We never use it to identify or count visitors, or to follow anyone across other websites.

3. Cookies left by the analytics tools

Our traffic figures come from Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity (the Privacy Policy describes what they gather). These are the cookies they leave:

  • _ga and _ga_<ID> from Google Analytics, each valid for as long as 2 years;
  • _clck from Microsoft Clarity, valid for 1 year, and _clsk, valid for 1 day;
  • CLID and MUID from Microsoft, each valid for 1 year.

The hidden admin page runs neither tool.

4. Signing in as staff

A team member who signs in through the hidden admin page gets a session held by Firebase Authentication (a Google service) in IndexedDB or localStorage, with the sign-in email stored in localStorage. Visitors who never open that page get none of this.

5. Further requests our pages make

Google Fonts. Google delivers our typefaces, so Google gets your IP address and some basic facts about your browser.

YouTube. On pages featuring YouTube Shorts, thumbnails are loaded from i.ytimg.com; a page with no videos hides that section and makes no request. The player itself loads from youtube-nocookie.com, and only after you tap a video. From that point YouTube may store data in line with Google's policies.

WhatsApp and share buttons. These stay inactive until tapped.

Websites we link to. Once you go to a government website or one of the other sites we point to (Skills Assessment Australia, Build AI CV, Talent Tabloid, English test practice), its own cookies and policies apply.

7. Choosing what is stored

Clearing or blocking site data is a browser setting that you can change at any time, and the public site carries on working. Private or incognito windows discard what they stored once you close them. If Google Fonts is blocked, your device falls back on a font it already has. To keep YouTube from storing anything, never play a video; thumbnails don't start the player. Only the staff login depends on browser storage. If you want to stop Google Analytics and nothing else, install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.

8. Updates to this page

Any cookie or stored item we add later will be listed on this page, and its date will change. On personal data more generally, the Privacy Policy applies.

9. Need to ask something?
