Privacy Policy
Last updated: 13 October 2026
Here we set out, in everyday words, which personal information JobsAbroad Uganda (jobsabroad.co.ug) handles, how it reaches us, the purposes we use it for and the control that stays with you.
1. In brief
- Reading our jobs and guides requires no account at all.
- Advertising is absent from the site. Visits are counted with Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity, though, and each of them sets cookies.
- Your CV, phone number and messages reach us only if you send them yourself, by email or via WhatsApp.
- You may ask us at any time what we hold about you, and request correction or deletion.
2. The controller of your data
The site belongs to Red Migration FZC, a company registered in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, which also runs it. As controller, that company determines how personal data on JobsAbroad Uganda gets used and is answerable for it.
To contact it, use jobs@jobsabroad.co.ug for email, +971 50 283 2394 for phone or WhatsApp, or 108, 6th Street, Al Hamriya, Bur Dubai, Dubai, United Arab Emirates for post.
3. What you hand over yourself
A vacancy's Apply by email button leads to our contact page. Choose the address displayed and your device's mail app opens a fresh, blank message addressed to jobs@jobsabroad.co.ug. The site itself dispatches nothing for you, and we receive nothing until you press send in your mail app.
You decide what the message contains. Applications from Uganda commonly include some of this:
- name, mobile number and email address;
- a CV that sets out your jobs and referees;
- school and trade certificates (for example UNEB and DIT), a degree or other qualifications;
- a scanned passport or visa, if you opt to include one.
WhatsApp conversations
The Ask on WhatsApp button starts a one-to-one chat with our team. When you write, we see your phone number and WhatsApp profile name along with everything you send, whether text, files, photos or voice notes.
Job channel
New vacancies are broadcast on our WhatsApp channel. Following the channel doesn't begin any conversation with us, and WhatsApp and its parent company Meta operate it under their own privacy terms.
Calls and letters
If you ring or write, all we learn is what you say. The contact page lists every way to reach us and intentionally has no form.
4. Records made without any action from you
Simply loading a page leaves some technical records. For each request Google Cloud logs the IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time, and these logs are erased after 30 days.
Our server also tallies requests per IP address, held in memory and nowhere else, which stops one source from overwhelming the site. We use the logs and the tally to find faults and to block abuse, and not to identify you.
5. Counting visits
Google Analytics 4 (supplied by Google LLC) and Microsoft Clarity (supplied by Microsoft Corporation) run on JobsAbroad Uganda. We rely on them to see which pages are useful and where visitors give up.
What gets collected: pages opened, scroll depth, links and buttons clicked, and the device, browser and country of each visit. Cookies and similar technologies underpin both tools. Clarity goes further, capturing clicks, scrolling and mouse movement as heatmaps and session replays, with typed form entries masked. Microsoft may also put this data to use for advertising, as explained in its Microsoft Privacy Statement.
What isn't sent to them: names, email addresses and whatever you type into a form. The search box is the single exception: the job or trade you search for goes to Google Analytics as a search term. Advertising features in Google Analytics are turned off on our side.
For more: see Google's privacy policy, the Microsoft Privacy Statement and the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. Each cookie is named in the Cookie Policy.
6. Things we do not collect
Searching and filtering jobs happens within your browser and its address bar, so nothing about it is recorded in our database. The only thing our own code stores on your device is a lone timestamp that lets a page reload smoothly after an update. Google Fonts delivers the typefaces, and a YouTube video comes from youtube-nocookie.com solely when you tap it. More detail is in the Cookie Policy.
No visitor ever logs in. The only login belongs to a hidden admin page where our staff publish jobs and articles; it uses Firebase Authentication, a Google service, and refuses anyone whose email address is not on the staff list.
7. Purposes we use it for
- Matching your experience and documents against the job you selected.
- Sending your application on to the employer behind that job.
- Writing back to you on the channel you chose.
- Arranging the following stage, such as an interview or additional paperwork.
- Keeping the site secure and available, with the help of logs and request limits.
- Complying with legal obligations.
We never use what you send for advertising or profiling, and none of it goes to the analytics tools.
8. Legal grounds
Data protection law requires us to name the grounds on which we use your data. They are:
- consent, given when you decide to contact us and withdrawable at any moment;
- steps ahead of a contract, because dealing with your application takes you closer to a job you enquired about;
- legitimate interests, namely a secure, working site;
- legal obligation, in cases where a law requires us to keep or disclose something.
9. Recipients
Access goes only to those who need it:
- our team, who read what you send and reply;
- the employer that placed the job you applied for, usually in Australia or New Zealand, and another employer only if you consent;
- Google Cloud, where our web server (Cloud Run), database (Cloud Firestore), logs and staff login are hosted; the database holds published jobs, guides and videos and not files from visitors;
- our email provider, which delivers and stores mail addressed to jobs@jobsabroad.co.ug;
- WhatsApp (Meta), which carries chats and the job channel;
- courts, police or other authorities, but only when the law leaves us no choice.
10. Hosting and transfers abroad
We host the web server and database on Google Cloud in Belgium (European Union). Our company is in the UAE, most employers are in Australia or New Zealand, and our email provider, Google and Meta may process data in other countries too.
An application from Uganda may therefore pass through several jurisdictions, each with its own privacy rules. Where sending data abroad needs safeguards, we depend on the contractual and security measures our providers apply, and every stage gets no more than it needs.
11. Retention periods
There is no set period for emails and chats: we keep them while your application, any recruitment arising from it or a legal duty requires. On request we'll delete them, unless the law obliges us to retain a record. Server logs disappear after 30 days, and request tallies stay in memory for just a few minutes.
12. Security measures
HTTPS protects every connection, and HSTS instructs browsers never to retreat to an unencrypted one. Nothing connects the database to the open internet; our server alone can reach it. Only approved staff can enter the admin page, and request limits discourage bots and password guessing.
No online service can be made completely safe. Please therefore keep copies of your passport to yourself until an employer or our team really needs them.
13. Your rights
As a rule you can ask for a copy of your data, have it corrected or erased, restrict how it's used, or object to some uses. Which of these you hold depends on your country and on the law governing the data.
UAE. Because Red Migration FZC is established in the UAE, the UAE's federal personal data protection law applies where relevant, giving rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction and objection, plus a portable copy.
Uganda. We respect the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act 2019 where it applies. Anyone in Uganda who is unhappy with our handling of their data should tell us first, and may also be able to complain to the data protection authority in Uganda.
Elsewhere. Australia, New Zealand and other countries have privacy laws that give comparable rights. Name the law you rely on and we'll follow it.
14. Submitting a request
Tell us by email at jobs@jobsabroad.co.ug what you want done. To avoid giving your data to the wrong person we may first need to confirm your identity. We'll respond within whatever time the law sets, and where we can't do everything you ask, such as when a record must be retained, we'll say why.
15. Younger visitors
JobsAbroad Uganda is for job seekers who are 18 or over. If you learn that someone younger has given us their details, let us know and we will delete them.
16. Outside websites
Our pages carry links to WhatsApp, YouTube, social networks and official government sites. In the footer you'll also find Skills Assessment Australia (rpldirect.com.au), Build AI CV (buildaicv.com), Talent Tabloid (talenttabloid.com) and English test practice (practisenow.com). Their own policies take over once you're on them, so read those before sharing personal details.
17. Revisions to this policy
If the site, our providers or the law change, we may need to revise this page, and the date at the top will change with it. Whatever appears here is the version currently in force.
