Wollongong has an opening for an Accountant at a multidisciplinary financial services business. The firm is looking for around 2 to 3 years of Australian public practice experience for its collaborative accounting team.
Mentoring, CPA or CA development support and a genuine path to Senior Accountant and Client Manager are part of the post. Employer sponsorship may be on offer to a suitable person, depending on experience, post suitability and visa eligibility. Client work, tax deadlines and teamwork all sit side by side in a typical week. Learning on the job from a senior colleague is part of the setting.

Key Responsibilities
- Produce financial statements
- Produce income tax returns
- Work across partnerships, trusts, companies and individuals
- Draw up Business Activity Statements
- Complete accounting and taxation work for SME clients
- Prepare individual income tax returns and help with year-end tax planning
- Liaise with clients and, where required, the ATO
- Organise your own workflow and meet statutory deadlines
- Help the Senior Accountant with client portfolios, using Xero and other cloud systems
Requirements & Eligibility
- Sound Xero skills
- A good working grasp of Australian taxation and compliance, BAS preparation included
- Around 2 to 3 years of Australian public practice accounting experience
- Experience in preparing tax returns and financial statements for partnerships, trusts, companies and individuals
- Good written and verbal communication
- Sound attention to detail
- Able to manage competing deadlines
- An accounting, commerce or equivalent tertiary qualification; CPA or CA studies (or plans to start them) are highly regarded
