In mid 2027, the Sydney CBD gains a luxury Modern Japanese fine-dining restaurant inside a prestigious new development. Its hospitality group, already behind several award-winning restaurants, is inviting expressions of interest for the Head Chef role.
Working alongside the Executive Chef, the Head Chef leads the kitchen brigade, delivers the highest culinary standards and builds the restaurant's reputation. The ideal person is confident without being arrogant, believes in teamwork, treats everyone in the team with dignity and respect, and will not tolerate bullying or intimidation. Visa sponsorship is considered for exceptional international candidates.

Key Responsibilities
- Mentor, motivate and lead a high-performing kitchen brigade
- Develop menus with the Executive Chef and bring fresh ideas to the kitchen
- Execute dishes to the highest culinary standard, with exceptional quality, consistency and presentation
- Run the whole kitchen, from sushi and robata to omakase, à la carte and private dining
- Control food costs, labour, purchasing, budgets, rostering, stock and profitability
- Recruit, train and develop talented chefs, keeping accountability and operational discipline
- Keep food safety, hygiene and workplace compliance at the highest level and build a kitchen culture of professionalism, teamwork and mutual respect
Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven senior leadership in acclaimed Japanese premium-dining restaurants or internationally recognised hospitality groups
- Renowned restaurants of comparable calibre on your record are highly regarded
- Exceptional Japanese cooking knowledge, technical ability and attention to detail
- A strong grasp of kitchen financial performance, food costs and labour costs
- Demonstrated ability to develop, motivate and keep outstanding kitchen teams
- Excellent communication, organisation and leadership, with a calm, composed and professional approach under pressure
